Working in collaboration with Tabitha Pope Architecture, MGA was commissioned to prepare and coordinate the technical design information for the self build construction of this 420sqm barn conversion. The completed build will provide two new residential homes, designed to maximise the rural setting of the site, with large glazed bifold doors and clerestory windows looking out over the garden and fields beyond, whilst bringing light deep into the double height, open plan living spaces.

The project is designed to have a minimal carbon footprint. The existing steel structure of the barns is retained, and infilled using timber frame construction, insulated with a sustainable woodfibre insulation, and clad in waney edged douglas fir.
